Jakarta - The government said it would seek to accelerate the process of negotiating the release of Indonesian nationals held hostage in Somalia.

"We're trying to make the process can be completed less than eight months," said State Department spokesman, Desra Percaya, Monday (17 / 4).

Desra explained, the current Somali government is negotiating to free the nine Indonesian citizens. In these negotiations the Somali government has sent a ministerial-level officials. "We therefore hope that the negotiation process can run smoothly and faster than the detention of 14 citizens of Indonesia in Somalia before," said Desra.

Desra said, 9 people held hostage Indonesian armed groups in Somalia are from Slawi, Tegal and Pemalang. "They are safe," he said.
